The East Grinstead Carnival Party was held on Sunday 3rd July 2016. The carnival procession started at 12 noon joined by thousands of people in the historic Railway Approach and proceeded through the town up into the High Street then finished in East Court. The Town Mayor of East Grinstead, Bob Maidstone; Deputy Mayor, Julie Rockford; and Chairman Borough of Mid Sussex District, Councillor Peter Reed joined in the carnival parade.
The Filipino Community was led by the very first Filipino Councillor in the UK, Danilo “Danny” Favor and his wife, former ENFiD-UK officer, Maribel Favor, ENFiD-UK Chairman, Edwin Dela Cruz; ENFiD-UK Board of Trustee and E-Learning Group President, Janette Vicera and other dynamic Filipino organisations join the colourful parade. They were waving the Philippine flags and banners, receiving warm applause from the crowd lining up the streets.
The Carnival Procession was attended by the May Queen, Richard Leman with his Gold Medal and Olympic Torch, Sackville Samba Band, Meads Senior Football Team, Weir Wood Sailing Club, Queen Victoria Hospital, NTC Band, Springfit Gymnastics, East Grinstead Fire Station Crew, Rugby Club Mini and Junior Teams, Cycling Club, Halsford Park School, Youth Council, Jigsaw Charity and other organisations or civic clubs.
Everyone was treated to a free live event. The show featured Kylie tribute act Rogue Minogue, the ever popular Tar Babies, Sackville School Choirs and Bands, the East Grinstead Rock Choir & Urban City Street Dance Group.
East Grinstead is a town and civil parish in the northeastern corner of Mid Sussex district of West Sussex in England near the East Sussex, Surrey and Kent borders.
